Director of Post-Secondary Initiatives

Job Purpose

Based on the StriveTogether model for collective impact, ImpactTulsa partners with local philanthropic partners, pre-K to12 school districts, postsecondary institutions, businesses, nonprofits, faith-based groups, the Mayor’s Office, Tulsa Regional Chamber, and the Tulsa Area United Way. Incorporated in May 2014, ImpactTulsa is an operating fiscal subsidiary of Tulsa Community Foundation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ImpactTulsa’s Post-Secondary Initiatives Manager position is a part of the backbone staff of the organization supporting education throughout Tulsa County. This position will serve a key role in leading the work of ImpactTulsa in college and career readiness. Key responsibilities include providing strategy for post-secondary work, building college and career action networks, and scaling best practices. Action networks include cross-sector partners from education, business, nonprofit, faith, civic, social service, and philanthropic entities.

 

The Post-Secondary Initiatives Manager works closely with the Senior Director of Education and Collaborative Action, community stakeholders, school districts and the data team to establish systems, maintain consistent communication among partners, and establish collaborative action plans to improve college and career outcomes.

 

  • Design and implement ImpactTulsa’s college to career efforts in partnership with business leaders and postsecondary institutions.
  • Lead FAFSA and Oklahoma Promise initiatives in partnership with ImpactTulsa’s 15 partner school districts.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with community stakeholders, including leaders in education, business, nonprofit, faith, civic, social service, and philanthropic entities to advance post-secondary work.
  • Manage, coach, facilitate, and provide technical assistance to action networks to develop plans, achieve objectives, and complete deliverables.
  • Build the capacity of partners to utilize the continuous improvement process to improve student outcomes.
  • Provide project management support and develop process improvement frameworks and tools to support action networks and other community partners.
  • Create and execute multiple project action plans to support priorities as defined by the partnership.
  • Support the ongoing collaborative work of the partnership by filling a variety of community support roles, including the coordination of group meetings, events, and presentations.
  • Work closely with communications and data teams to collect, compile, and analyze data for partner and community reports.
  • Work with communications to produce media materials highlighting post-secondary initiatives.

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred with three or more years of relevant work experience in similar non-profit, education, or community development organization.

 

Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate is highly collaborative and has strong networking and communication capabilities to connect partners. He or she has excellent project management and organizational skills, with exceptional written and oral communication skills. This candidate can provide reliable, timely customer service for community action networks, stakeholders and other partners. This candidate must be able to lead and facilitate in person meetings.

 

Other Skills & Requirements

This candidate must be able to utilize MS Office Suite as well as other reporting software. He or she must be able to travel to community stakeholders, action networks and other partners on a daily basis. This candidate must be able to travel nationally overnight on occasion. This candidate must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Director of PR and Communications

The partnership includes leaders from education, business, philanthropy, nonprofit, civic and faith communities with a vision that all students are guaranteed a high-quality education. ImpactTulsa is a subsidiary of the Tulsa Community Foundation and a member of the StriveTogether national network. Its 15 school district partners represent over 170,000 students in the Tulsa region. Working with its education, business and nonprofit partners, ImpactTulsa compiles data and measures academic success to identify and share best practices from the region and across the United States that help students reach their full potential.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ImpactTulsa’s Director of Public Relations and Communications position is a part of the backbone staff of the organization supporting education throughout Tulsa County. The Director of Public Relations and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing the external and internal communication strategy for ImpactTulsa. The Director of Public Relations and Communications reports to the Senior Director of Strategy and Operations. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Marketing and Communications

  • Create compelling, persuasive, relevant, and accurate communications materials that will introduce the work of ImpactTulsa, engage community members, and build community support for the Partnership.
  • Lead editorial direction, design, production and distribution of ImpactTulsa publications, including the annual Community Impact Report.
  • Develop and write compelling content for industry news, press releases, blog posts, feature stories, speaking points, etc.
  • Maintain ImpactTulsa’s communication platforms (website, newsletters, facebook, twitter, etc).
  • Coordinate media requests for ImpactTulsa and ensure regular contact with target media.
  • Coordinate the appearance of all ImpactTulsa print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
  • Manage relationships with marketing and communications vendors.
  • Ability to be consistently reliable and present in order to facilitate staff and vendor relationships as well as attend, present and lead meetings regularly.
  • Lead special projects as assigned, such as special events, re-branding/website development, fundraising campaign communications plan, etc.

 

Strategic Planning and Budgeting

  • Create, implement, and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for internal and external communications.
  • Create evaluation systems, including benchmarks, for public relations/communications goals and report progress to the Executive Director.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor systems and procedures necessary for implementation of communications strategy.
  • Develop short and long-term budgets for public relations and communications, monitor progress, and evaluate performance.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred with three or more years of relevant work experience.

Collaborative Action Network Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities

ImpactTulsa’s Collaborative Action Network Coordinator position is a part of the backbone staff of the organization supporting education throughout Tulsa County. The Collaborative Action Network Coordinator will support the Birth Through Eight Strategy (BEST) Collaborative Action Networks (CANs) across multiple goal areas including increasing the number of children born healthy, on a positive developmental trajectory by age 3, ready for Kindergarten, and successful by 3rd grade. This role will support a network of cross-sector partners who are working together to improve the lives of children and families in Tulsa through collective impact and continuous improvement. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Facilitation

  • Support the BEST Collaborative Action Networks (CANs) by providing neutral facilitation and continuous improvement support to partners with a focus on equity throughout.
  • Work with the Manager of Continuous Learning and Improvement to create agendas, PowerPoints, and materials needed for CAN sessions that move partners from talk to action.
  • Lead continuous learning and improvement activities for CAN participants in whole group and small group settings.
  • Use data to drive conversations and decision making during CAN sessions.
  • Connect and share local, state, and national best practices, policy and resources to enable and sustain improvement.

 

Project Management

  • Assist CAN participants as needed with change ideas that support their aim statement.
  • Work with the Research and Data team to collect and analyze data that supports the work of the CANs.

 

Communication and Logistics

  • Steward relationships between ImpactTulsa and community partners.
  • Solicits and attends in-person meetings regularly with community partners to maintain and steward relationships.
  • Share stories and lessons learned from the CANs to ensure continuous learning.
  • Support the involvement of community members within the CANs by managing reimbursement processes.
  • Manage contact lists for the CANs.
  • Ensure that discussions, documents, and action commitments are tracked and shared within the CAN.
  • Represent the mission of ImpactTulsa in the community and at national functions.

 

Qualifications

This position will serve a key role in leading the work of ImpactTulsa in strategy and operations. Key responsibilities include supporting with organizational strategy, project management, operations, stakeholder engagement, and team management. The Senior Director of Strategy and Operations position reports to the Executive Director. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Strategic Planning and Project Management

  • Serve as a key leader of ImpactTulsa’s strategic priorities racial equity and community engagement.
  • Work with Executive Director to identify and recruit additional cross-sector stakeholders to participate in the ImpactTulsa’s work.
  • Work with Executive Director and Sr. Director of Education and Collaborative Action to develop a regional set of strategies that will drive transformative change in the region.
  • Manage the implementation of the regional set of strategies.
  • Oversee support of partnerships and alignment of shared goals and outcomes.
  • Ensure the development of regular reports and community gatherings to highlight progress toward shared goals and outcomes.
  • Work with Executive Director to identify and recruit additional cross-sector stakeholders to participate in the ImpactTulsa work.

 

Operations and Financial Management

  • Assist the Executive Director in developing and monitoring organizational policies, processes and procedures.
  • Manage operational challenges and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a shared data system for tracking common outcomes and indicators across systems and reporting results.
  • Develop annual budget for all programs and categories and oversee the budgets on a monthly basis.
  • Develop budgets for grants and provides monthly financial reports as needed.
  • Negotiate major contracts and serve as the primary contact for vendor relationships and performance.

 

Team Support and Management

  • Ability to be consistently reliable and present in order to facilitate staff and vendor relationships as well as attend, present and lead meetings regularly.
  • Provide management support to staff and work groups to build capacity and oversee progress on communications, research initiatives, and key strategies.
  • Lead, attend, and/or present at partnership leadership council or committee meetings as necessary and provide information on progress of community networks through presentations and written reports.
  • Ensure that all internal work is aligned and communicated effectively across the organization.

Assist Executive Director in establishing, facilitating, and executing effective and open communication with staff, particularly related to internal decisions and strategy.
