The Tulsa community is fortunate to be surrounded by organizations and individuals who want to see the Tulsa community advance in education, health, safety and financial stability. Through the Tulsa Area United Way alone, there are 60 partner agencies serving these needs. But there is no day that better demonstrates the service-minded nature of our community than the Tulsa Area United Way’s Annual Day of Caring.
Day of Caring is a Tulsa tradition that showcases our city’s generosity, community spirit, and willingness to roll up its sleeves to help those in need.
I would like to invite everyone to join us for the Tulsa Area United Way’s 24th annual Day of Caring on Friday, Sept. 11.
Tulsa has one of the largest Days of Caring among all 1,200 United Way organizations.
We expect more than 5,000 volunteers to work on 350 projects across the region.
Projects include clean-up, painting, landscaping and light construction. Our volunteers have even taken students and senior citizens on field trips.
Many of our projects are at social service agencies, schools, city parks and other nonprofit organizations.
For the third year, we will place a special focus on a neighborhood in need. This year, we will focus on the 61st and Peoria area (although we will have work projects across the city.)

This year, we are proud to hold Day of Caring on 9/11, a national day of remembrance of the women and men who lost their lives on that fateful day, and of the first responders who so bravely risked their own lives.
We will begin the day with a breakfast and program at 7:00 a.m. at Johnson Park, 61st and Riverside Dr. You won’t want to miss the free pancakes served by the Brookside Lions Club. They have become a Day of Caring tradition. We also will announce the recipients of our Live United Spirit Award and Community Service Award at the event.
During the program, we will reveal the results of this summer’s United Way Trailblazer program, in which a dozen companies and organizations will report on the success of their early summer campaigns.
Then we will all disperse to our work projects to help make our community a better place to live!
